Nice find. Is that just light surface dirt/grime that might wash off with soap and water? Is it just like that on the reverse? I found a lower grade '82 no FG half earlier this year too. The owner of my LCS appraised it to be worth about $4.50 in its condition and offered me $3 for it. I decided to just keep it.

I remember someone here a couple of years ago found a really nice '72 or '72D no FG and sold it on ebay for over $100 from what I remember.

I've found several '82 no FGs & have sold them on eBay for more than $4.50. They sell easily. It would have to be in pretty bad shape to go for only $4.50. The '72d no FGs are really rare & there are collectors putting together Registry Sets who will buy them & slab them for their collections, even in AU condition. I remember someone finding one a while back that appeared to be BU+. I think it sold for over $200, if I remember correctly.

I found several and sold some on ebay for $10 or more. I am always keeping an eye for 72d no fg but no luck so far.

It's a nice find but I don't know what you mean by damaged. To me a coin is damaged when it has scratches, holes or bent. Yours looks like it is a dirty circulated coin to me.

I was able to clean off the varnish, or whatever it was, with nail polish remover and Q tip. Turns out the FG is not missing. Just obscured by the layer of varnish/dirt.
CW3....i consider any coin that has been altered in any way as damaged, as it decreases the coins value.

I guess it depends on the eye of the beholder as to what damage is. For me this is a hobby & the value of the coin is secondary. BTY how is your wrapper collection coming along? I got a half mwr a couple of weeks ago with the stamp Foxwoods Resort & Casino on it. That is the Indian casino complex in CT. I thought of you & your wrapper collection right away. I haven't opened it yet but when I do if you want the wrapper, send me a pm advising how I could get it to you.

Hey! sorry to hear that yours wasn't the real deal, they are really hard to come by for sure. Here's the only one I found... After thousands checked, I finally found the error! _*~_*~PICTURES~*_~*_

Interesting! I learned something here. I was completely unaware of this error.
