The last few weeks I have seen some great finds in the nickel category so this week I decided to start with a box! First thing I noticed was an ender but it was Canadian :o I started opening them and found my first 1938 Jefferson in good shape and then another first! A 1897 Liberty V Nickel. I was really excited!!! Any idea on the grade of this coin?

Congrats on the V nickel! It looks in pretty good shape too, esp the reverse. From what I can see Id probably say its in VG condition. That's really great to find a earlier date V nickel in such nice condition. I sure hope my first V nickel is in such nice condition.

HH!

Looks like about 1/2 of LIBERTY is visible. I'd grade it VG8-10. Cool find.

Very nice! I found 1 V in my first box and it was in rough shape. Several thousand dollars worth later I haven't found another.

Sure looks like some of Liberty is visible, got to be at least VG8... nice find!
