I finally got around to searching the first of the 3 $50 bags of cents I picked up on 03/16.

I am hoping the other two bags produce some goodies like the first one. Just an average quantity, but a couple of very nice ones.

There was a total of 18 wheat pennies

Great score! That is definitely better than the 1909 VDB I found last year. Grats on the type II also.

If it was a proof, it would definitely be worth grading. How do you tell a proof cent anyway?

Finished the third $50 bag tonight.

where do you get bags of coins from?
The bank. Some banks will sell bags of coins from their coin machine which is where these are from. I found a couple of banks locally that will sell them. Although I might get shorted a few pennies now and then, I think its worth it since the bank doesn't have to pay a fee to get them rolled first and so hopefully they won't try to charge me a fee either (so far so good).

Usually I only get bags of pennies and halves though. I feel with nickels, dimes, and quarters, there is too much opportunity to get shorted without making it back up. With pennies, a couple pennies short is no big deal. In addition I usually find a dime or two per bag which offsets that.

I added a picture below. Both coins are 1998. The coin toward the bottom of the picture is the normal width of the 1998 and the coin toward the top of the picture is the Wide AM variety. Hope that helps.
