I stopped by the local bank that lets me buy bags from their coin machine on Monday and asked for a bag of pennies. They said they had 10 of them (they have $25 bags). A local school did a penny drive. :) So I bought 4 on Monday to test the waters and came back and picked up the other 6 on Tuesday plus 1 more that they had just filled.

So this week I have been working through $275 in pennies.

So far I have gotten through $150 of it. When I bought them I combined them into 5 - $50 bags and 1 - $25 bag, so the results are per $50 bag (the last bag will be $25 when I get to it.)

As far as other stuff.

Picked up 2 more red seal $2 bills
1 - 1928 D series (pretty beat up)
1 - 1953

And out of $16.50 in loose half dollars all I found is a 2004-D.

One teller had 2 silver quarters in her tray (both 1964) but she wouldn't sell them to me, she was saving them for someone.

Also found 1 Canadian quarter (1980) and 1 Canadian nickel (1979) in the garbage can next to the coin machine when cashing in rejects.

I'll update on the other bags when finished.

Sweet! That's a great selection and range of wheaties. I would love to find a large quantity of pennies that I knew was not someone else's rejects... pennies from a fundraising drive is prime territory!
BTW, hang on to that 1979 Canadian nickel. It's made out of 100% pure nickel, and worth more than 20 cents!
Tough luck about the silver quarters. I had an off-duty teller that I know come up to me in line at the local CU and show me a handful of silver quarters that she had snatched up from an old lady that came in that day and turned them in for face value. Her grandfather had (quite wisely) advised her to hold on to them. I offered to buy them from her, but she wasn't interested... >:(
Hope the rest of the penny hunt turns out even better.
HH,
Bob
