I just returned from three days of coin hunting. I had stopped at a Mississippi casino and ended up buying $3000 in new halves from them. I borrowed one of their wheelchairs to get the coins from the boat to the car. I was met by the casino's head of security at the end of the dock. I have now been accused of money laundering by the casino. It seems some nice guy dumped a few thousand coins on them and left with the cash. This guy thinks I was part of that ring. After an hour in his office and a computer check by the local sheriff, I was allowed to leave. I love this game we all play.

I ended up with over 200 silver coins, 3 Benjamins, and a Booker T. Washington half. Cheers, Jim

Yikes! Heads up, casino searchers!

Yikes is right! I've thought about this in the back of my mind but I don't think they'll call the Feds about my usual $40 in nickels. Most casinos in Vegas eventually won't be taking coin anymore so it's prolly a moot point.

I would have been frightened, angry, and thought it was a little funny all at the same time. But most likely angry! Glad they straightened the situation out and congratulations on finding all that silver! Good thing that guy dumped thousands of coins off, you probably have some of them. LOL I wonder what denominations he dumped?

Excellent trip Jim!!!! Kudos on all the silver!!

That story on the money laundering is kinda scary. I am happy to hear it all turned out well for you. That would have scared me to no end! That would also have never entered my mind about possible money laundering .

BTW - I don't kow if you saw the post from Bongo titled "kindness"....please find it and read it....great act on your part...I salute you....WTG.

The same thing happened to me at a casino in Mississippi. It was scary and me and my wife were treated like criminals. I was taking my halves that I bought at the bank to the casino to get bills for them. Evidently they don't know about Treasurenet.

Personally I would think that any security person thinking "money laundering" in the same sentence as "half dollars" would have a screw loose.

Someone that desperate to launder money is NOT going to waste their time lugging around several hundred pounds of half dollars.

Just glad you got out of that deal unscathed.
