(This is the continuing saga of a weird coin)

I put a sharp knife to the edge of my 2013 -p Kennedy half dollar coin and this is what I got:

Not a coin at all. The disk in the middle (on the left side of the image) is sticky.
Is this a Magician's coin? If so, how would it be used?

Yes it is. There would generally be a foreign coin inside that would be used to make it appear the coin had changed.

It is indeed a magician's coin, or rather most of one. Usually there is either a British large penny or Mexican 20 centavo coin inside. See the coin in action here:
