If it wasn't so old I would say it was a grease strike by the way it looks and feels.

Never seen a ben like that. It'd be interesting if there were a way to know the history of each coin you find. I have a few that are a real mystery to me. I'd love to know what caused them to become what they become when we find them.

I know it's a reach, but I would like to see the reverse. If it looks normal then it could be a struck through die cap. If it's the same, then it's just worn.

I was going to say the same thing.

I don't see many worn Franklin halves. A little wear and tear, sure; but none that I would say are too worn. I always found that strange, I guess people saved them more and they didn't circulate all that much.

Weighing it would not be a very reliable method when it's been so worn. Sound test on the other hand is always the failsafe method of determining AG from anything else.

It sounds like AG. And it has good reeding on the edge.

It was probably somebodys "Good luck coin" . They kept it in their pocket for 20 years. I've found kennedys that look the same. Harder to tell if they're silver, but the sound is distinct

Is they cast it in silver, maybe. If it was a lighter metal you would see a difference.
