2009 Dime ratio (P&D)

Most of you have seen my previous posts of my saving the 2009 P&D dimes due to low mintages. Well I finally had a chance to sort them between P & D, have about 4-quart size Gatorade bottles filled. According to the mintages in the RedBook, the 09-P has about 98 mil and the 09-D has about 48 mil (for about a 2 to 1 ratio). My sorting has a reverse ratio of about 5-to-1 ( D's more than the P's ). I was quite surprised at that ratio, but either way each of my 12-grandkids will be getting an entire roll of each, with long range hopes that the rolls may turn out to be semi-key coins just like the 55-S cent, 50-D nickel etc.

It also depends on what part of the country you're in. If you're more west you will find more Denver minted coins, regardless of production numbers.

I find it hard to believe that 98,000,000 or 48,000,000 will ever be considered "low" mintage. We'll see, but I have never been wrong. I thought I was once, but I was mistaken.

I'm in a similar situation, but I know why... I've only pulled 2009D nickels and dimes so far, no 2009P. However, I do live 40 miles away from the Denver Mint, so everything tends to be dominated by D coins regardless...

I hope I'm around 25 years from now to prove I'm right to a little extent. If not, they are still worth 10-cents.
