Picked up a box of halves + a box of dimes yesterday.

The box of halves gave up five keepers, two 90%ers and three 40%ers:

1959 Ben
1964
1965
1967
1968D

The box of dimes gave up one Roosie: 1961.

This just might be the year that I hit that 100 ozt. goal of mine.

I'M ON VACATION!!!!!! 8-)

Really, it's a staycation; and I plan on hitting the hunting hard! This is the first staycation that I don't have any house projects lined up, so I'm going to be able to focus on my CRH escapades exclusively. I've hit a silver vein and have been getting a lot of good boxes lately, so hopefully I can take advantage of that while being off from work and not having any projects lined up at home.

Picked up two boxes of halves yesterday on my lunch break, one of which was a skunk. The other box gave up six keepers, one 90%er and five 40%ers:

1964
1966
1967
1968D x 3

Also, I've been neglecting putting my finds into my spreadsheet. I have a lot of finds to log, but now I've got the time to do it. So, I'll be posting an update in a little bit on my year-to-date total so far.

I've officially hit, and then surpassed, my goal of 100 ozt. for the year!!!

8-) 8-) 8-)

Currently sitting at 102.75 ozt., with something like two-and-a-half months still left to hunt!

My new goal is 125 ozt. before the year is out.

That's an awesome milestone! Congrats. I wish I could hunt like I used to - my per box totals this year are better than ever. There is a ton of silver to be had, but I don't have the time or bankroll to extract it :/

There has been a lot of silver dumped into circulation recently it seems.

I ran into a fellow hunter at the bank yesterday while we were both picking up our halves. I run into this guy maybe three or four times every quarter, the areas where we operate overlap by three or four miles in two different spots. Each overlap has two banks that we both hit. Just so happens that we bump into each other either dumping or picking up.

So yesterday we were talking after we both made our pick-ups, and he was saying how he had found two seated halves in a box last week and his son had picked up a box with 107 keepers. And I was telling him I've been having a lot of good boxes lately too. We both remarked that it's uncommon for this many good boxes to be in our areas, some really big-time collector must have died or got robbed or something. Then I remembered a few weeks back one of the coin shops in our area was broken into after hours. I mentioned that to him. And we both felt kind of sad that we might be profiting from that coin shop guy's loss.

But then we kind of just shrugged our shoulders and wished each other luck and went about our business.

Don't feel too bad for the coin shop guy... Unless he was a complete moron, he probably had detailed records of inventory, and awesome insurance. I remember a couple years back somebody broke into my place and stole my sports card collections. Luckily I kept good records of my stuff and my insurance replaced all of it. The best part? The vast majority of my collection got upgraded because the condition that I needed wasn't available. So, what I'm slowly getting at is... If he kept records, he should get it all back. I betcha he too will get a lot of "upgrades" on his inventory as well.

As for your silver finds -- man, you are the man. 100 oz? I'm under 4 oz for the year and I'm tickled pink about it.

Also, one other thing I am somewhat curious about but am unsure if you are willing to divulge such information. You mentioned in your last post that you picked up three boxes over the weekend. Where are you getting that much coinage on a weekend? Banks that stay open or some secret crhing weekend honey hole? Lol

All of my pick-up banks are open on Saturdays, some only until 12PM others until 2PM. I usually pick two boxes up at one bank and another, or sometimes two, at a different bank.

I don't really have a target volume, I just do as much as I can each week. Some weeks it's more, some weeks it's less.

Alrighty, here are my year-end totals:

Total silver found in 2015: 134.59 ozt.

Highlights:

http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/c...015-hunting-harsh-mistress-2.html#post4523958 (1917 Walker with an obverse mint mark!)

It was an absolutely awesome year of hunting for me. Crushed my initial goal of 100 ozt. by early October; with two+ months left I increased the goal to 125 ozt. and then blew right by that goal too! Such a great year.

The one and only low point for me was having my computer take a dump at the end of the year and losing all of my spreadsheet data. I had everything tabulated, what coins I had found when, whether or not they were found in boxes, reject trays, etc. I had my DCA calculated for each year and just meticulously recorded everything. I'm an idiot for not backing it up at all this year. The last I remember, my DCA was something around $8.xx for my entire stack. Oh, well.

Good luck in 2016, everyone!
