I decided to try hunting a roll of half's, gave the lady 10.00 and got a roll. No 90% in that roll but 8 40% went back in and got another, 11 40% in that one. I went back in and got 12 more rolls. I now have 6 full rolls of '65 thru '69 Kennedy half.

I have 2 rolls of '71, 1-'74, 2-'76 and 3 rolls misc '75 threw 2001.

There were no 1964. No 1970 either and nothing later than 2001. All Kennedy half's nothing else.

Did I do good?

Deposit at main branch as yesterday they had no halves, tomorrow they'll have 8 rolls. Then I'll clean out the other branches.

I think you did outstanding, but don't expect that kind of luck all the time. I started doing exactly as you did, asking for rolls and and loose coins in all the banks. Many had none, or maybe most had none, a few would have some and I'd hit a few keepers. Then I saved up to buy(order) a box and then hunt and find a different bank to dump. Got up to ordering 6 boxes at a time at 2 different banks a week, rolling my 3 grand over. But as the hunting got harder to find anything good, have retreated back to 2 boxes a week. Have fun and enjoy the hunt.

Or you could just spend them. Some people snatch them up and put them away, and when they do that it means that is just a few more you will not have to possibly look through again in the future.

Nice haul!

Like someone else mentioned, I would just spend the 71 and later, that way you dont mistakenly buy them back.

Use them to pay for gas, or, to buy day-old bread for feeding the chickens. That's what I do.

Those are awesome numbers, I looked through $10,000 worth and found 15 keepers the other week.

I just opened a dump account with a coin counter at the branch. I picked up 10 rolls of half's, 2 dimes, 1 quarter, 6 nickles, and 12 penny rolls. Skunked on half's, quarters, and dimes. Nickles 3 jefferson '39,48,59 and a buffalo 1928. and 11 wheaties. I'm also going to split the Lincolns up coppers in one and zincs in the dump.

I think that I have something to do now that the weather has frozen the ground.

I asked my bank if they would order me a box of halves yesterday, they told me that they can't but I can to ask the mint. My dump bank will order them though. Wonder how my original bank will feel when I dump a skunk box on them and buy from my Dump bank.

It's all A@@backwards main bank won't order boxes and they use Brinks no coin counter, my Dump bank will order boxes and they use Loomis, and have a no charge coin counter.

I've searched about 170 a day, Pennies, nickles, dimes, quarters, and some halves. Past 2 days 1 64d rosi, 4 war P nickles, 35 wheats a 1917 wheat oldest so far. No quarters, or halves.

Bring on the spring for Dirt fishing those silvers.

Your 6 solid rolls is a jackpot! I scored a similar number a couple weeks ago except one of my six rolls were 1964's. I've been doing this for 2.5 years and that was by far the largest score of silver I have ever found.

Congrats! Keep on rolling.

Use your money for the quarters to get more dimes or nickels. Wasting your time looking for silver there.

True that Dimes are not much better here either. My first box of halves were a skunk too. Nickels and pennies have been better, and I'm getting another box o halves next week. Today started at minus 8 and not to get warmer till afternoon.

But nothing is a waste of money more a waste of time (which I have plenty of). Awaiting 2 packages today then I'll go and get box of nickels, and 2 pennies. tomorrow I'll pick up another like that with more for the week end.

Happy Hunting all.

I've searched it all over the last half-dozen years, and volume is key. $30,000 in dimes, or $30,000 in quarters within a year's time, it all averages out. Halves might have the upside.
