Hey guys found a weird 1968 half dollar it seems proof like although it bears the D mint mark. I wouldn't say it was chrome plated by someone either. image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg

Looks pretty normal to me. You do know that it is 40% silver right?

Yea it's as shiny as a proof is what I mean and the sides are almost black(super dark) and yes I know it's 40% silver. That's why it looks weird to me

Yep! Also, Denver has long been known to produce some very, very nice coins from time to time. When extra time is taken in preparing the Dies for use, the result is high quality and sometimes Proof-like coins.

Special mint sets were produced by the mint in 1965, 1966, and 1967. Proof and mint sets returned to production in 1968. Data found in the 2015 Red Book.
