Guess what happened to this half

I have never seen such a mutilated half dollar before with the reverse being so perfect. What happened here?

Someone just decided to mutilate one side.

Somebody tried to solder to it.
You can melt the excess solder off with a heat gun or propane torch. Don't overheat it though or it will hump up.
Solder doesn't like to wet to the Ni cladding so it will come off fairly clean.
