Well, that made it worth stopping. Every time we go to the store my daughter who is three yells out Daddy there's the money machine go look inside of it!! Lol everyone laughs. Who is around there. But today there was a 1963 D dime..

Does anyone ever check the garbage can that's next to the coin machine. I would think some people might throw away coins that are rejected possibly. I have not dug through one yet though. Thought about it several times....

A tip to you, give the reject chute a little side-to-side shake to make sure you loosen up any stuck coins, that way you know that you got it all. Great find!

At one of my dump banks, one teller that I know outside of the bank said yes they do.

Most tellers genuinely make a mistake by accidentally blocking the reject chute with the coin bags. My dump banks have a bag that has half of the top cut off so that the reject chute will never be blocked. When the bag fills, they transfer the $100 into a new bag and then they seal it, and reuse the "half" half bag.

Sweet I found over 90 cents in a grocery store reject bin the other day. Just popped it in the self checkout before paying with my credit card. Nice little discount. I always check when I walk by.

This makes sense. I've bought several bags over the years and the half bag almost always contains "junk"...car wash tokens, mangled coins of other denominations, etc. In my experience, these were almost always just extra and not counted as halves.
