Stopped by a bank I got a little score at last week (along with another bank last week.. Ended up with over $20 face value in 40%s)

But back to today. I actually took pictures. Lol
Out of $29 worth of halves I got 31 40% halves

Was these two pickups from the same bank, and we're they CWR or MWR. Either way, nice catch none the less. Congrats.

:icon_thumleft: Nice finds. Were any of them the key date (1970)? It seems that a lot of 40%s are showing up lately. I wonder due to the low price of silver, people are dumping them because you can't get much for them. Anyway that's good for us.

Well last week I got 3 rolls.. 1 roll had a few silver and the rest didn't. Same bank this week gave up this. Lol

A bank close by gave up the majority of silver last week and they didn't have any this week.

I don't understand why people think others would dump 40 percenters when you can still get more than face. Sorry, just doesn't make sense.

I doubt people are dumping their silver at face value. It's much more likely that people's kids are taking their coins and spending them, or druggies are stealing them and throwing them into coin machines.

I've heard many-a-teller tell stories of little old ladies who are depositing their late husbands' coins. Of course, the tellers in good conscience always tell them that they shouldn't deposit them and that they're worth something. The tellers have told me on more than one occasion that they've made the deposit anyway, that they don't care, even knowing that they're worth more than they're getting.

But I agree that some of it comes from kids/druggies stealing & spending, but our big finds are certainly collection dumps.
