Well dawgs.... it's been a good run but coin roll hunting has literally bankrupt me.

I had accounts at over 30 banks and credit unions. Well, one day a while back my PNC account started accruing fees and I had to withdraw funds from another to pay for it. It was like ol'Ike's domino theory, where if one country became communist they all would. Well it all started with that one account and slowly but surely, it started to affect most of them. At first it was manageable but I lost track The nickel and diming became, dollar billing and Hamiltonning. And sooner or later, that became Granting and Benjaming.

And keep in mind, all the meanwhile I was CRH'n. I was loosing money on a recently made-up fee for all transactions over $500. Like a junky wishing to experience the drug one last-time, I wanted to hit it big one last time. I wanted a monster box. I never got it.

I thought I was alright despite losing some serious hard cash on CRH'n but the dog-gone, no good, "paper-free checking" is what finally did me in. Not only did I go into the red in several accounts, they accrued daily fees of over $50. And that fee became even more. I owed more than $65,000 in overdraft related fees at several banks at the beginning of this year.

I havent been posting much because I've been in and out of bankruptcy court. A shout out to all my homies. CRHn' nowadays stands for clad-roll-hunting. I hope you get out while you still can.

I'm going to be buying a metal detector sooner or later to replace the void that the lack of coin roll hunting has left.

I immediately DROP banks that even charge me ANY fee for rolls & boxes. The trade off is not there regardless of how much AG you may find. It's just like going to a casino, win a small jackpot, but eventually the house wins it all back.

Yeah , 50 the detector is an amazing way to keep the fun rolling - I've been swinging one for ten years now and I'm as excited
about it now as I ever was . You won't regret it !

Sorry to hear about this 50. I'm a little concerned myself. Were you ordering boxes of coins from PNC, and then being charged a fee for the order? If so, did you know about this fee up front, or was it heaved upon you all at once, out of the blue? I only order dimes from PNC and have done so for several years, but have never been charged. I've also never been told about a fee for ordering from them. However, I worry that I'm going to get a bill for all the boxes one day. Is that a realistic concern or am I just being paranoid? Any insight from anyone would be great.

Sucks it happened to you. Always keep tabs on your accounts at all times, watch for the nickel/dime fees tagged in with no warning. They always say they notified you but then blame it on the mail or something of why you didn't receive the letter. I caught Chase once that they had like around 8-9k and thankfully the branch manager found it and even she had to jump through hoops to find it.

Metal detecting is fun, but if in clay or rocky soil the digging sucks. I would recommend starting with a Tesoro Cibola or w/e the waterproof Garrett's is, or if you are planning on ocean/beach hunting look into Pulse Induction detectors, probably skate out with a detector for not over 600 dollars (Tesoro is cheaper to buy). I have personally used a Cibola and it has a very small learning curve, nice power and i think they guarantee them for life from defects. I went with a Whites MXT Pro and other fixins on it, set me back about 1200 and it is just tooooo much stuff to pay attention too (Also super heavy compared to a Cibola, due to batteries vs battery). The LED read out of VDI numbers imho is NOT needed at all, just listen to your machine. GL in whatever you do, the metal detecting forum on Tnet is pretty good and some nice folks in there too.

That is too bad.

Being that I have been around for the last few years, I was thinking that you were just joking around with us like you have done in the past making a point through a slightly exaggerated tale to teach us a lesson (no accusation...just a feeling).

Anyway, good luck getting that mess cleaned up.

That's a bummer.

Here's hoping you get clear soon.
As a kid in the sixties I sorted coins for dad.
Lots of people pulled silver.
Some from estates got tuned back to the wild, theft and desperation freed others. Dad came home once and caught someone he knew in his stash. He got rid of it then far as I know.
Early seventies we still put silver dimes in our penny loafers.
One roller skating rink would about once a week allow admission for a single silver dime. Must have been a collector..l.o.l..
I check a roll now and then and keep an eye out but it is a volume deal with a tough return on time let alone expense.
At least your addiction is not one that harms others or destroyed your body.
Looking forward to your posts here down the road...
Research is key in metal detecting.
Again ,we follow others who are sometimes forgotten that had the same ambitions.
They did not get it all but they did get a lot of the gravy. Too there is recent bling and other drops but not enough to gamble over too much..
Stay well!
