But I do believe it's a 90%er!

I got a Bicentennial 40% proof a few months back, but this is my first 90% modern proof. (I think)

I saw that crazy, sharp, bright rim and knew it was in pretty good shape. Didn't think it'd be a silver proof. 98 003.JPG 98 004.JPG 98 005.JPG

Look like a 90%er?

My first 90% modern proof was burned 2001-S. Sound test was how I confirmed mine. Since then everyone found has been beaming bright thick rim where you just say to yourself. This has to be a Modern.....

Easy tissue test using regular clad half next to half in question, place under 1-ply tissue. Clad will appear dark, silver will be 'white'.

:icon_scratch: They still make 1-ply tissue? I thought everything was 2-ply or more now a days (lol). Shows what I know.

:hello: That's a nice looking coin. Good find. Another good way to check is to weigh the coin. A 90% should weigh 12.5 grams. A clad proof will only weigh 11.3 grams. Hope this helps.

Just show us the edge!

It's visible, isn't it? angled it that way so you could see the edge and the cameo of the reverse at the same time. No doubt it's silver. When I posted it, I wasn't sure if it's a 40% or a 90%. At this point, certain it's a 90.

Not all of us here have as much knowledge about coins as some of you. I post stuff here for fun or for help. To those that offered help, many thanks!

Redbook will tell you if 90% or not. Don't have mine in front of me, but that year I believe is only 90%.
