Hi everyone. I've been out for a bit but started again this week. I found a 1995 that I believe is silver, broken mint set I would assume. The strange part is the sides are perfectly smooth where they are normally ridged. It is a 1995 and extremely uniformed and extremely shiny on the side so I don't think it is normal wear. Is it a strike error?...thoughts?

What does it sound like when it's dropped? The reeding is completely gone. My guess is it could be a half that was put through a slot machine over, and over, and over... PMD most likely but pretty unusual looking.

A '95 silver would have to be a proof with an "s" mint mark. It doesn't look "proofy" nor do I see an "s". Nothing about this coin says "silver" to me, but its impossible to always be accurate from a pic.

A guess is that it might be a plated casino half.

Here is a "silver plated" 1973 halve that I found not to long ago.

Looks like it's 1995 D, and a modern D mintmark won't be silver. 1970 was the last silver D, with exception of the 76 bicentennial commemorative.

The coin probably spent some time in a clothes dryer! Also, it would have to be a Proof coin minted at the San Francisco Mint to be Silver or Silver Clad or more recently at the West Point Mint to be Silver and like enamel stated, it's not Silver.

There are no silver 'd' mint bicentennials. Those are all 's' as well.

Arg, I was sure I had one. I know the proofs were, but they made some 40% business strikes and I thought they were D mint.

Most of the ones that are missing reeding have been put through the Las Vegas slot machines over and over. They are pretty common to find.
