Picked up two boxes of halves yesterday morning, one of which was a skunk.

The other box gave up six keepers, three 90%ers and three 40%ers:

Picked up four boxes over the weekend, three of which were skunks.

The fourth box gave up one 40%er: 1966.

Well, finally ended a long skunk streak that I had been in midst of since 6/20...

Picked up two boxes of halves yesterday, one of which was a skunk. The other box gave up three 40%ers:

1966
1967 x 2

Great find on the 90% proof, I've only found two in six years and you've found two in under a month!

Thanks! It's been tough the last two weeks or so with all of these skunk boxes.

On top of that, PNC is really making it hard to dump coins. Just like you and Vdubguy said they would. They will only let me dump three bags per week. So I've been doing a combination of bag dumps and re-rolling, taking the re-rolled coins to various TD and PNC branches.

Keep at it! PNC can be a real pain in the arse.

Way to go on the silver proofs! That's awesome!

PNC branches in my area actually refuse coin deposits from me... they will not even accept one roll of halves even if I wanted to deposit it into my account. I know they are wrong and I could push the issue but its not worth my time and effort to do so. I just find other branches willing to accept coin deposits.

Went to four different banks today dumping re-rolled coins, at each bank I picked up some loose halves totaling $23.50.

Snagged four 40%ers out of the loose halves:

1965
1966
1967
1969D

Also picked up a box of halves + $220 in CWR of halves at a new pick-up bank near my work. Snagged a Roosie from the teller's tray too: 1946.

8-)

Will be searching the box and CWR of halves later on when I get home...

The box of halves was a skunk, but I pulled two 40%ers out of the CWR:

1965
1967

The other box was kind of weird though. It gave up four 40%ers in the first four rolls, but that was it for silver:

1967 x 4

Then I come across this roll and at first I'm thinking, "HELL YEAH!"...

But then I realize the coins are smaller than a half dollar but bigger than a quarter...

Womp, womp...

At least the box gave up some silver though.

A week or so ago I won a free extended-stay at a hotel down in OCMD for this upcoming weekend. I just finished remodeling my bathroom, so I don't have much cash for an impromptu vacation. Not wanting this free hotel package to go to waste, I set out to sell $250 in face value of 40%ers. Saturday, spot price was $20.29/ozt.

Craigslist guys were low-balling me, wanting to spend $1.50 - $1.75 per coin. Pawn shops were low-balling me as well, again, $1.50 - $1.75 per coin.

I had two coin shops left to call, the only two in my area. One guy said he'd take them for $2 per coin.

The final shop that I called offered me 4.5x face, or $2.25 per coin. So I took it. Best price I was offered all day. So, for $250 in face value of 40%ers I was cut a check for $1,125.

Not too shabby.

Not too shabby is right! When I'm ready to sell my 40% I'm going to sell to provident metals, check out their site they list their buy back price. Of course there will be expenses with selling such as shipping and insurance cost but they seem to be offering a consistent 95% of melt value for the coins. Minus expenses we should still be able to clear at least 90% of their melt value.

Yeah, if I had the time to go through Provident that's definitely ideal. I needed the cash quickly as we are leaving Thursday morning.

Hey, that is what is great about this hobby. If you need cash you can always sell the coins for cash quick. Vacation will be much more enjoyable just thinking that your $250 investment will get you $1,125 worth of a good time. If you like buffet style restaurants I would recommend stopping by The Bonfire Restaurant on the corner of 71st street. It will be packed with tourists at this time of year but worth it if you're into all you can eat crab legs, prime rib and other seafood specialties. Hope you have a great vacation!

Nice boxes! I've been stuck in skunk city for nearly two months with a box here and there giving up a couple silvers.
