monster reverse '74 die crack-- how did this not get bagged in 37 years?? :laughing7::laughing7:, 1940 straight clip, '87-P with a bulging flame die clash (photo misses how thick it is), 83-P reverse crack from left corner of steps to top right of "D", and 96-P reverse crack from top right of "E" moving SE past "S" to top left of "E" in America. all came from same nickel box, part of the "stash" that has been stored since 2010. 16 boxes of the 80++ the bank has in the vault have been searched. when the cache is exhausted the results will be listed, so far 3 "V", 3 HQ Buffs, the scarce '09-P, over 120 MS FULL STEP pre-2000, 10 war, and 18 assorted type errors. 2 boxes of halves this week were-----SKUNK:BangHead::BangHead::BangHead: IMG_2643.JPG IMG_2644.JPG IMG_2645.JPG IMG_2634.JPG IMG_2635.JPG IMG_2636.JPG IMG_2637.JPG IMG_2638.JPG IMG_2639.JPG IMG_2640.JPG IMG_2641.JPG IMG_2642.JPG HH:laughing7:

Are you finding these boxes from 2010 are better averages then your normal boxes of nickels? If I got 16 boxes of nickels here I would average around the same 10 war nickels and buffalos. Not so much on the V nickels though. Those are good finds. Are the die cracks worth anything?

die cracks are termed "defective die" in Redbook with Jeffs at $15 depending, obviously, on condition. for the '74 to live in the wild with such a dramatic defect is amazing. I will hope for a buyer at about $12. what is unique about these boxes is they are Strings & sons and the older coins are plentiful. lots of pre- '60's. sitting on close to 450 war nics., so they are not my objective. this haul is a mini time capsule from a nice money pool that may give up the '38's, 39's, '54 & '55 dbl dates, even a 50D. nice to hit a crippled Buff, a near dead Bison or a decent Shield. I intend to beat these boxes 'til they bleed, then beat them for bleeding. the vast # of full step MS pieces will get sold in groups at 10 to 20X face to amateur collectors who want HQ's to fill their collection. havin' a ball with these nics

That die crack is worth much more than $15 bucks. It called a median (bisecting) split die. I sold a dime about two years ago for $89 bucks.
