Might not be stolen. Might have been that someone passed away, and the person(s) that got the coin collection didn't want or know the value, so just used them at the guaranteed face value. Great find!!

Nice find... though not all nice coins you find in circulation are stolen... In going through around 150,000 coins these past five months, I've discovered it is not that unusual to find the occasional 50 year old or more Uncirculated coin floating around, and 75 year old AU coins also show up about as regularly for me as Buffalo Nickels (about 1 per 5,000 coins). Tonight for instance I found this AU-50+ RB 1948-S Lincoln. Unfortunately, the scanner doesn't do it justice and I no longer have phone which takes decent close ups which show the reflection of the luster.

Coin grade abbreviations: PR, FR, AG, G, VG, F, VF, EF (or XF), AU, BU (or Unc)...

AU stands for About Uncirculated.

I just found a 1943 D war nick in my till from work. Any wheat pennies I been moving off to the side for a friend whose wife collects them. She just stores them in jars, so any really nice looking ones I save for myself. LOL. He saves all the pre-1989 canadian pennies that he finds. those are 98% copper. So need to get back into CRHing but there are priorities and responsibilities since mom just got out of the hospital. Congrats on the finds!!

Canadian cents through 1996 are the same percentage of copper - 98%. Just less metal in those coins. So if looking to hold onto copper cents, Canadian cents through and including 1996.

Not really obviously stolen at all. Lots of ways a coin gets back into circulation. Death..unknowing kids taking it for Candy or ice cream. Unknowing wife just cashing in a jar of coins. While people do steal things I take exception to the obviously stolen comment.

A few years back while searching cents, I came across an ExtFine 1909-P. Extremely good looking coins are still out there, maybe just hidden in the cracks somewhere over the years. It does happen.
