Traded paper for silver.

While I'm at banks asking for halves I've gotten into the habit of asking for older bills. Over the last few months I've picked up about $160 in bills dated 1950 and earlier. Nothing I want to keep so I traded them for some silver. I think I made out good.

Plus I got $20 cash. Just looking to keep on stacking. Paper money, unless it's old, rare, and in great condition doesn't compare to good old silver.

Those are some real nice pieces that you received in trade for paper. Just as long as you feel the trade was fair is all that matters.

Nice trade!! I agree, holding onto older bills isn't a great idea in my opinion, unless they are in great shape. I'll keep anything 1934 series or older and all red/blue seals, and of course any other color seal other than green. Even a lot of red/blue seals don't carry much of a premium-- I was able to pick up $150 worth of them for like $155 (a mix of $1, $2, $5, and $10 bills, including two funny $1's)

Not sure what bills you traded away, but if it only cost you $160 I'd say you got a good deal.

2 - $50 and 1 - $20 from 1934, 2 - $20 from 1950, and a 1963 red seal $5. I keep these two even though they are in bad shape I like them and they are cool looking.

Denver, it's in really good condition, I'm not good at the whole grading thing. Couple of them were D's but all common.

Awesome!!! The 1955-D is a semi-key date... the rarest of the post-1940 dated circulation quarters!
