Well today I lugged my $100 pile of pennies to my dump bank, took the $100 and bought a box of nickels at another bank.

In that box was mostly your average stuff with some earlier dates, but I did snag a 1934 Buffalo Nickel and a 1943-S War Nickel.

Stoked, I dumped the nickels and bought $100 worth of half dollars. I have never searched them, given the cost involved, but I figured I'd see what I could do. I ended up finding three silver halves! One was a 1964-D, one a 1968-D and the last a 1969-D.

I have never hunted halves. Is that an average haul? Thanks!

3 silvers out of $100 is above average, but it's all about the luck of the draw in this hobby.

$100 of nickels... $100 of cents.... $100 of halves... It all "costs" the same.

Not sure if those were cwr or mwr halves, but what you need to do is go buy the rest. $100 at a time if that's what you have available. If there are more rolls at that bank, I can almost guarantee more silver.

Good luck!

If you buy a box ($500) and find silver at that rate, you'd have 15 silvers. That's a very good rate. Say five are 90% and the rest 40%, even better. Right now, for the year, I'm at about 4:1 40 to 90. Now, if some of your finds are Ben Franklins or even Walkers it's more exciting! Trust me.
