Way to kick off the year.....The last 2 weeks of December I didn't get to do much searching so I'm sure my pick up has at least 3-4 boxes waiting for me.. that's gonna be my first search of 2017 this coming weekend..

Picked up a box of halves today on my lunch break from a supermarket branch, walked past the Coinstar as someone was using it.

On my way back out the door the guy was gone so I checked the reject tray, scored my first free silver of the year: 1964D Roosie!

Thanks, mav! Same to you.

That box that I picked up yesterday gave up a lone 40%er: 1965.

Picked up two boxes of halves yesterday, both of which gave up silver.

First box gave up two 40%ers:

1967 x 2

Second box gave up six keepers; two 90%ers, three 40%ers, and a well-worn British Penny:

1883 British Penny
1963 Ben x 2
1967 x 2
1969D

All of my dump banks had cut me off back in mid-January, so I had to figure out a new dumping strategy. Now that my plan for dumping is back in place, I can get back to hunting.

Picked up four boxes of halves yesterday, first time I've searched any coin in almost a month.

Two boxes were skunks, but the other two gave up four 40%ers between them:

1966 x 2
1968D
1969D

Feels good to be back in the game.

I found two credit unions that have coin machines, one of which will accept rolled coin as well. But they are kind of far away from me.

I opened a new account with Santander Bank, they said they will accept bags of coin. We'll see about that though, because PNC told me the same thing last year but then instituted limits on how many bags per week before disallowing me altogether.

And finally, I have a friend who is a manager at my local grocery store who said they will accept $500 in halves per week from me.

Picked up a box of halves + $230 in CWR of halves + $24.50 in loose halves yesterday.

Skunked on the CWR, but the loose gave up one 40%er: 1967.

The box of halves gave up two 40%ers:

1966 x 2

Thanks, mav! This dumping situation is less than ideal, my volume is just about cut in half. So part of my strategy going forward will be to scout out potential dump banks instead of new pick-up banks.

Hopefully I can find another super sweet bag-dump situation. Man, I didn't know how good I had it.

Once I can improve my dumping situation I will then focus on adding more pick-up banks to the mix.

Picked up two boxes of halves earlier today, both of which gave up silver.

These were the first two straight-up good boxes that I picked up this year, and they also ended a week-long skunk streak.

First box had one reverse Bender and gave up twelve keepers total, eight 90%ers and four 40%ers:

Walkers:
1934
1936S
1939
1943D

Bens:
1949S
1951D
1956
1960D

1967 x 3
1968D

two.jpg

three.jpg

four.jpg

five.jpg

The second box had three enders, a reverse Bender and two 40%ers; and it gave up fifteen keepers, two 90%ers and thirteen 40%ers:

1959D Ben
1964
1965
1967 x 5
1968D x 5
1969D x 2

Picked up three boxes of halves + $220 in CWR of halves this weekend, which proved to be pretty good for me hunting-wise.

One box was a skunk, but the other two as well as the CWR gave up silver...

The $220 in CWR of halves gave up eight 40%ers:

1966
1967 x 4
1968D x 3

one.jpg

The first box of halves with silver gave up three 90%ers and two 40%ers:

1964 x 3
1968D x 2

two.jpg

The second box of halves with silver had a single ender, and gave up three 90%ers and four 40%ers:

1941S Walker
1942 Walker
1964
1967
1968D
1969D x 2

three.jpg

four.jpg

five.jpg

Also, I sold $140 in face value of 40%ers back on Thursday and picked up this bad boy with the proceeds:

Century Arms C39v2, 100% American-made AK with a fully-milled receiver.
