Yesterday was Valentine's Day, and I decided to see if I could coax Cupid into giving me a treat, so I bought one box of nickels and one box of pennies.

Love certainly was in the air when I opened the box of nickels, as I saw a nice Buffalo ender right off the bat! Starting with that ender roll, I began my search. I noticed that there were a lot of 1940's and 1950's examples in there, many in virtually uncirculated condition. Here and there, a Buffalo appeared. Then came a War Nickel! Back and forth, the finds came...Buffalos and War Nickels. Just for something different, I suppose, a 2002 British 20 pence coin popped out. Odd shape, odd find.

Toward the end, the Buffalos and War Nickels ran dry, but again I was in a sea of rather nice 1950's examples, when what do I spy? A 1950! Not a "D" mint, but still a nice find!

Aside from my folder upgrades, here's the tally of what I found:

Jefferson — 1944-P, 1944-D, 1945-P, 1950

Buffalo — 1920, 1925-S, 1927, 1928-D, 1936-D (x2), 1937

That was the end of the nickels. What an epic box for me, certainly in my top three! I managed to upgrade a lot of the slots in my nickel folder, so that was a win.

As for my pennies? I got five Wheaties out of the box.

Thanks, Cupid! Come back anytime.

I am thinking it might be a bit of a collection/accumulation dump. There were a bunch of nice 40's and 50's examples in there, some on the verge of uncirculated.

do you have the books/folders for the searched collection? Or just casually finding stuff?

I love reading posts like this. Nickels are the best! Those buffalos are AWESOME!!! Nice clear dates and detail. You rarely find them looking like that in the wild. Great stuff, I think I'll go get myself a box of nickels now :occasion14:
