I had only found 3 silvers after searching through 12,500 dimes, but my ratio has gotten a lot better as of late. I'm now up to 10 silver rosies in a search of 18,000 dimes. That works out to 1 silver every $180.00 searched, which isn't bad at all.

Here's what I've found: 1948, 1949, 1960 (2), 1960 D, 1963 D (2), 1964 and 1964 D (2). Pretty good haul!

Most boxes, bags, and rolls of dimes (and quarters) I have searched have been barren of silver. I would consider one silver per box ($250) to be above average. An average of anything more than that, in my opinion, is VERY good.

Speaking of Canadian coins, does anyone ever get a silver Canadian dime? I figured no one would check them and I'd get a few, but I've found zip so far. I know they're only 80% silver, but it would still be nice to get one instead of all these crappy steel ones I'm finding! Who the heck mints a coin that's magnetic anyway? LOL!

I find a few every year, they're out there. Last year I found 9 in one box. If you search dimes consistently you'll come across a few... But 18,000 dimes or about 7 boxes is not near enough

Yup, found two of those 5 pence coins this week. Also found silver edged coins from Barbados and Bermuda as well. Of course, nothing beats the gold edged Turkish coin I found a couple of weeks ago! Thought some fool had wrapped a gold coin with their dimes! Not gonna happen, I guess...

That's right on par with the dime numbers I gave you on your last less fortunate post. Do you just do boxes? I think my ratio is decent because I look at more customer rolls and try to be selective where I get them from. I get lots of foreign coins as well.

Besides Canadian, the only other non-US silver coin I have found in a dime box was a 1913 Colombian 10 cent piece (.900 silver) which I posted back in Nov. 16' which took me by surprise. Don't hunt many dime boxes any more...averages are just way to low. Prefer Nickels and Pennies just because of the number of varieties available to possibly find.

I buy 10 or 20 rolls at various banks in a 10 mile area. I use B of A as my dump bank, so I never buy any coins there. I've got my girlfriend helping me out now, since some tellers are starting to recognize me!

When I start metal detecting again, I'll hit some banks outside my neighborhood and give my banks a break for a month or two. I had planned on stopping CRH when the weather improved, but I don't think I can stop now! LOL!

I search bags of dimes off the machine from my bank. Six $1000 bags this year have produced 18 silver Roosies. No mercs. I experimented with boxes just a bit and have zero in 3 boxes.

Searching the quarter bags from the bank has been less successful. Last year I searched 25 $1000 bags and got 12 silver Washingtons and 1 Standing Liberty, about 1 every 2 bags.

This year, I've searched 23 bags and only found 7 silver Washingtons. It's all a matter of getting the right bag or box. For the record, I do not search quarter boxes.

I've searched at least 80 rolls of quarters and only found one silver, a 1950. Haven't found any cuds or die cracks, so I'm giving up on quarters for now.

Awesome start! I have been hunting for a few years and still have not secured that damned 49 of any variety. It's all gonna happen for me, just as long as I never have no in my heart. lol

I just went through 500 in dimes a box and $250 in bank wrapped rolls. I got nothing from the box, and a nice 1959 out of the bank wrapped coins. One silver out of $500 this time out. I think 14 out of a box was my top silver pull from a box. Oldest coin in that bunch was a 36, and my oldest to date is a 1916 Barber.

Yes once in awhile I do get Canadian silver. I love finding them too, and it don't happen as often as I would like. I got a beat up junk silver 41 and for my book 42 43 51 56 58 60 62 64 66. Canadian silvers are some of my favorite finds. On the other hand, I have around 8 bucks in magnetic dimes to get rid of somewhere. Don.
