I wanted a box of dimes and a box of nickels, but all my bank had to offer was cwr. I know a lot of you prefer rolls that people have brought in, but I've never done very well with them- I suspect my area is lousy with other hunters who dump at my pick-up.
I was confident that these were also a dump, and some of the rolls even had return address stickers on them, but I took $250 in dimes and $100 in nickels nonetheless. I wasn't expecting much, but I wound up with a good variety of finds. The dimes teased me first with a modern Canadian and a bus token, but eventually they gave up a lone silver Rosie, 1958D. Figures it's the same year and mint that I fished out of the coinstar last week, but silver is silver. Also caught a very dirty clad 1984S proof.
The nickels were slightly more lively. I don't do them often, so I found a few hole-fillers, including a 1958 and this lovely 1938. I looked hard for a mintmark, but I still needed it for my collection, and it's a good example. Also found this fun Guatemalan 10 centavos and a 1955 that it looks like someone started carving into a hobo nickel. Has anyone here tried making those? They look very cool but it seems to take incredible skill to do well.
