Still checking out $200 a week in dimes, but no silver this week. But I did find my first clipped planchet dime (maybe). Tell me what you think about this one. Seems legit, since it's a clean cut and there's no damage to the rest of the coin. If I was going to cut a coin, I'd place it in a vise or vise-grips and that would damage it. Just my take on it.

appears like Blakeslee effect at "F A M" opposite the clip----- so it's lookin' real
should be worth a roll of dimes or maybe a roll of qtrs. :dontknow::laughing7:

Thanks for the confirmation! Only took around 50,000 dimes to find a clipped planchet! Your guess on price is very accurate. Looks like they go for $5 or so on eBay. I think I'll keep it for that price...

I am sorry if I burst any bubbles but the cut looks too ragged and appears to have been accidentally or intentionally done (see pic #2 of the Reverse)! It also shows in pic #3 and #4. So, in other words and IMHO, it is not a genuine Clip Error.

I agree with Frank. I personally don't see any sign of a Blakesley effect.

Have to agree with Frank and Enamel. No Blakesley effect, and the cut is too clean. Also, in most clips you will see the lettering tapering off just a little before the clip area. Not so here, full stamping up to the edge of the cut. PMD.

my judgement was clouded by the photos, so I withdraw my testimony on advice of counsel.
the verdict is unanimous--- not a Mint clip
use 1280X720 photos so we can blow 'em up in clear focus :icon_study::glasses11:
