    ROAD TRIP SILVER

Took a crh road trip last wednesday. Here are the results:

    bank 1 $170, 1 40%
    bank 2 $662 bag, skunk
    bank 3 $105 bag, 10 40%
    bank 4 190 in mwr, 13 40%, 5 90%, [2 ken., a ben, a walker, and a 1946 btw commem. half]
    bank 5 $505 bag, 4 40%, 2 90% [a ben and a walker]
    bank 6 $840 bag, 12 40%, 7 90% [walker, 2 94s frosted silver proofs, a g washington frosted silver proof from 1982, 3 ken.]

The great thing about this road trip is that all the banks that I bought the bags off of the machines from, I do not have an account with that bank. Life can be good, sometimes.

    Happy hunting.

To obtain bags of coins from and bank, credit union, or even a casino, you have but to ask. The worst answer you can get is "no".

It is far easier if you develope a dialogue with one or more tellers. Explain your hobby. I even take one of my binders with several pages of flips containing errors and some of the cooler foreign coins and tokens. Silver is nice, but errors are what keeps the conversation going. Discussing how various errors came to be, and how some post mint damage can mimic errors is frequent when a branch is not very busy.

When a good relationship is established, one can start a conversation about coin machine rejects, unwanted foreign coins, tokens, and the like. These items can be a whole new world of adventure.

    It all starts by asking.

    Time for more coffee.

I just go in and ask if they have any half dollars. I also ask if they have a coin machine if it is a bank I am not familiar with. All the bags I bought were from the same bank located in many different areas. Each branch of this bank has a coin machine.

I'm sure tellers are just waiting around to hear about "error" coins. You must be on a different planet than me.
