Was going through a box of dimes last night. Had already found 2-Rosies, then about the 40th roll I saw what appeared to be a very dark gray, well worn rim. At first it looked thin and smooth like a hardware washer, pulled it from the roll, turned out to be a badly worn 1917-S merc. This is the smoothest slick merc I had ever found, but yet still readable. I would grade it as a POOR-10. But silver is silver. I think I'll weigh it to see what grams are remaining, I bet about 60% remaining.

Please post the weight....maybe even a pic.

Slick, ugly, beat up, stained, etc....it's still SILVER! Congrats on a fruitful hunt DD.

Nice find. I would think that that dime would have some collector value being that the mintage was 27 million. I just checked - Most price lists online (that I just looked at) show it being worth 3 -4 times the melt ($1.18) value.
