Hey all, just finished 2 more bags of nickels, managed to pull another 39S, as well as my first 45D!

I am now only 5 away from completing my Jefferson collection, quite happy about that, though I don't expect to find the 38s or 50d for a while...

Do have to ask though, what does everyone keep for nickels? I'm thinking about culling it down, as I have a bit of money just sitting, and since they're not like Wheats which are noticeably different (and 1/5th the cost)... I currently keep:
Everything 1945 and older
'46-'54S
any '50/'51
'55P, '58P
2009's
Any S mint marks post 70

Basically everything low mintage, but...yeah. Just curious as to what everyone else who does nickels does. Thanks, happy hunting everyone!

Congrats on the '39 S & the '45 D!
I keep my one, full Jeff folder plus any of the key or simi-keys coins for trading.

I keep anything pre 1960 plus all proofs, foreigns or errors. I also occasionally will keep later nickels w/ full steps.

I keep anything pre-1960 until I accumulate a solid roll, then I stop that date (1941, 1958-D, for example). The only exceptions were 1938 & 1939 of which I save every example, eventually amassing over 11 rolls of 1939-P (that I eventually sold a few years back) plus silver of course, and other low mintage goodies like 1942-D, 1946-S, 1948-S, etc. I'm back up to two rolls of 1939-P and halfway to completing my 2nd 1938-P roll.

Uncompleted rolls (dates I still keep) are all under 10 million mintage - 1950 [30 coins], 1955 [22 coins], 1939-S [16 coins], 1938-S [4 coins], 1938-D [3 coins] and one each of the 39-D & 50-D, but those last four won't ever be finished realistically.

More stats? :icon_biggrin:

- I was able to accumulate an entire roll of 1941-S of both the small and large S varieties.

- Silver rolls completed, in order of completion: 1943-P, 1943-S, 1945-S, 1944-P, 1945-P. Sold off the remainder of my partial rolls, so the other dates will prob never be completed. :sad1:
