I see posts about foreign coins found in rolls but have not read about anyone finding a commemorative half in a roll. When I was actively searching rolls as a kid in the mid 1960's, I heard rumors about others occasionally getting a Columbian Exposition half in change at that time. My grandfather (b in 1890's) got one in change but didn't know when. Does it happen today in rolls?

I have found 3 commemorative halves: (1) Mt Rushmore & (2) Statue of Liberty. They are rare to find.

I find clad commemoratives every now and then. It's the silver commems that are rare. About 5 years ago I found a Booked T Washington and a Carver/Washington commem, but no silver ones since.

I've found quite a few commemoratives over my years. Columbia Expo half despite it's age is fairly common. I have a half a dozen found in the wild. The Booker T, Carver, Stone Mountain are others of the classic group. Modern commem. halves are clad (except for Washington ('82) and Madison ('93) which were struck in 90% silver). Likely to pull the Liberty, Olympics, Rushmore, etc. I've pulled quite a few of the modern and only have bothered to keep the silver and a "best of" example. The rest get tossed back. In all my years, I have found the most variety coming from Brinks.

Cool. Now that I've gotten my first Walker, I'm looking forward to my first commem! Nice to see such success by such experienced coin roll hunters. Maybe my next box - the suspense and mystery when holding that wrapped roll is what makes CRH fun.

I found my most recent commemorative half last week. Have found 15 and I don't really hunt that much. The clad ones are relatively common. Silver ones, less so.

My best find was 1936 long island tercentennary commemorative. Not a lot of those out there. Also found Columbian expo, Booker t, and some non silver ones.

It happens. I found maybe a dozen (4 silver) from roll hunting. I read somewhere once where due to a lack of sales, Columbian Exposition halves were released into circulation. I dug one metal detecting.
