Last week, I had a (barely) dream box of 101 wheat pennies. The other box of that week was quite average in every way with only three Wheaties (although one of them was a beautiful 1912).
That box with 101 Wheaties had three visible enders.
This week, picked up my boxes as usual, cut them open, and checked both ends of all the rolls. One box had 5 wheatie enders, the other had 9(!).
I went ahead and did both of them before posting this time, just couldn't wait.
The box with five enders ended up being a little bit short of a second dream box, with "only" 73 wheat pennies. So I suppose it doesn't get a separate post. Highlights from that one were a 1920, 1920D, and 1923.
The other box with 9 enders is what this post is really about, though.
All told, there ended up being 179 Wheaties in it. There are 26 with varying levels of red/red-brown, 1944-1958. Highlights include 1911, 1920, 1925, 1929.
I would say this new personal record will likely stand for a while, but I just said that last week. Maybe next week will be even crazier. So far I have gotten (assuming it is all the same collection dump) over 350 Wheaties from this collection.
