I hope everyone's 2019 is off to a good start.
I haven't posted in awhile (I don't CRH at school) but I wanted to share a couple cool recent finds and seek help with another.
Found this good-looking 1942 Mercury (photographed here at 7x) the other week along with a few silver Rosies:

And I don't hunt nickels often, so it was a real treat for me when this worn but legible 1923 popped out of a roll. It's my first Buffalo found in the wild.

The coin I would like help with is a 1921 Morgan that I received along with some other dollars for Christmas. The obverse has a recessed blemish below the tip of Liberty's nose, but the reverse has a glaring strip of metal flaked off which stretches diagonally upward from the left branch of the wreath to the edge of the eagle's left wing. The design is still visible along the affected portion of the coin, but has a blackish color (contaminants mixed into the coin?). The best explanation I can come up with is a lamination error that occurred pre-strike. Does this seem consistent with the photographs below (taken at naked eye and 7x)?
Thanks for looking and HH!
