I found a cross in a circle today. It hit on nickel. After a closer look, I could see it was punched out of a 1964 nickel. You can still see all the writing on the edge. Love these odd finds, that’s what keeps me swinging. I found it MDing but I wanted to share it with you.

I applaud whoever made it. Anything to keep those pesky 64's out of circulation! Very nice find.

cool find, and actually easy to do at home if one wants!
a jewelers saw can be purchased cheap, as well as some blades, trill two holes and cut away what you don't want,

Other cool things that can be done is like Washington on the quarter smoking a pipe, give him a Mohawk etc. Make it into a pin or pendant, The cross is neat, never seen it done that way before!
Congrats on the find.

Yo Dave, take a good look at the front and back. It wasn't sawed, it was punched out. The front side is rolled over and the back has a little raised metal left as the punch came through. Looks just like metal that is punched on our Iron worker at work.

Could be. It may explain why the cross is not a standard Christian cross and is centered, Could be a tool die of some form and double punch,
Lot of work to make just one unless it was a tool for something else or someone just made the connection, "hey I can do that to a nickel!"

either way, interesting piece.
