On an epic 23 box skunk streak with only discouraging things to show. Why would anyone go to the effort to punch M19 deeply onto these halves (all dated 1972-73)?

Did somebody run out of sharpies?

LOL Cool !

I wonder if they didn't Know Better Or if they Did.

They just made them into Future Collectables to Counter-stamp Collectors.

250 years from now when all the Posts here at TreasureNet
are Toooo Deep in the Archives to be easily Found,
Someone Coin Roll Hunting or Detecting will Post one in "What is It"
& the Thread will be 10 Pages or more Long Before someone Posts
That Back in 2019 Someone Figured it was a Coin Hunters Mark.

At that point a Counter-stamp Collector will offer $200.000.00 for it,
even though the Red Book and Coin Dealers will Still List it as Worthless due to Date,
Metal Content & Condition of the Coin.

I might feel guilty keeping such gems all to myself. Would it be more generous or altruistic to share these beauties for others to appreciate? Perhaps I could release them during national coin week.

Betting the genius behind this particular coin marking scheme has marked more than the 3 coins I have been so fortunate to find.

Sadly, with the current trend of inflation and the value of our dollar, your $200K buy price is equivalent to $2.00 in today's money.

Jeff, could they have been tokens in a MD contest? One club makes copper cents into a cup sized shape so people with computers on a stick, like I have won't have any advantage at an organized dig. Just a thought. 250 years from now I doubt I'll be on the site.

I Don't Join in the Hunts So Not sure how they all Do.
One uses Paint, I Do Know That.

But Yes, I Wouldn't Rule out Stamps for prizes

One paints coins, another club puts out aluminum tokens and also takes copper cents and beats them into a bowl shape. Another has brass discs to find to get prizes. I apparently go to too many of these.
