Environmental exposure. Likely mild acidic soil for a few years.

Because someone did it post mint.

And, yes, the coin saw some time in a harsh environment before you got it. None of what you believe to be errors occurred until after the coin entered circulation.

Time for more coffee.

Damage after it left the mint. I'm looking at your pictures, but don't see a 3 anywhere.

This coin was exposed to the elements or chemicals, then thrown back in circulation. I find these pretty frequently.
