I’m currently working in a retirement community siding houses. There is a bank right next door . I decided to open an account because I will be working in the area for quite a while and want to buy coin from this bank. They won’t do any transactions without one. I started buying nickels, dimes and quarters from them a few weeks ago and stop in every Monday to get what I can. The first batch of nickels was loaded with 30’s, 40’s and 50’s. A bunch of full rolls of 40’s. Only found 1 war nickel. These are all customer rolled coin. I grabbed $120 in nickels yesterday and most of it was average except one roll. 12 war nickels and a bunch of 40’s. Also got 2 more war nickels and an old Canadian out of another roll. A retirement area means "OLD" money. Stay with that bank as much as possible for leads from tellers as to dumps coming in from the seniors.

Nice.....makes the effort worthwhile. The Canadian nickel has the phrase "We Win When We Work Willingly" written in Morse code around the rim.

Very interesting. For what purpose was it put in Morse code and not in the open.

I do like the Canadian more than the silver. It has some nice luster on it for a 1944.

I agree. You see war nicks all the time, but that's the oldest Canadian Nickel I've seen on here. (I'm sure someone's found older, but point being...you don't seem that too often!) Good finds overall though! Thanks for sharing. :icon_thumright:

Nice finds there. Some of the Canadian nickels of that era were made in chromium plated steel, so they have a nice shine to them.
