After finding the 1939D several weeks ago (prior post) - took 40 years of searching to find that one, I stumbled upon this 1938D a few weekends ago. Also got this 1945 war nickel

Nickels are low yielding - have to search a lot of them to come across anything.

Took vacation to Canada earlier this summer and dumped all the beavers, sailboats, elk, and loonies I had collected over the years. I had quite a bit. Felt good to get rid of all those.

Wow CJ9 40 yrs? Must be the area. I’ve been searching for about 5-6 and have found several 38 and 39 with mint marks. Also have found 3 1950 D’s.

I haven't been searching nickels consistently over those 40 years and I search nickels less than dimes, pennies, and halves, but I started collecting when I was sub-10 years old. With the 1939D I found several weeks back, I have now found the entire set.

Makes me feel VERY fortunate to have found a complete set as quickly as I did. Great finds though, still love pulling any 38 or 39. How many 43D's have you pulled in your 40 or so years? I've only pulled 1 thus far, as well as only 1 1950D

I only found one 1943D and the 1939D from several weeks ago was the only one of those I ever found. I pulled the 1950D like 3 years ago. This was I think the 3rd 1938D I ever found. I only posted it because it is a somewhat scarce find and I had just found the 39D some weeks earlier.

I havent been searching continually for 40+ years, but that is how long I have been collecting, so my guess is that if I had been actively searching all those years I would have completed the set much earlier.

You are fortunate enough to get bags to search - big volume at one time. I wish there was a bank around me with counters that I could get bags of cents and nickels from.
