Went to a 5-10 banks between yesterday and today to get coins (pennies, nickels, dimes, halves)

Got a total of $18.50 in halves at 3 of the banks

Bank 1 had a roll - skunk
Bank 2 had $3.50 teller tray - skunk
Bank 3 had $5 from teller and they were all silver: 1964, 1964D and the rest 40% (actually got the entire circulation Kennedy silver collection at this one bank)

Been getting lucky with teller tray halves this year - not huge quantity, but pretty consistent.
YTD searched $969 in halves
40% = 30 coins
90% JFK = 9
Franklin = 3
Walker = 2
44 silver in total
3 impaired proofs
94 NIFC (2 full rolls of 2002 P&D mixed CWR and 1 mint wrapped unopened roll each 2005 P and D)
Silver hit rate = 2.27%

Also, finally broke the skunk streak in dimes (after searching about $1,000+ over the last few weeks), found this 1941 merc in a CWR

Nickels have been a total skunk lately and pennies haven't been much better (wheat % is way down recently)

Nice job! When you say "entire collection", does that include a 1970?

No 1970 - which is why I said the circulation collection - guess i should have been clearer.

In all the decades I have been searching, I never found the 1970. I had to buy the 1970S many years ago. Still domt have the 1970D.

Ouch to no 1970 in decades! I've only been doing this for 14 months, about 225 boxes, and also no 1970. It is somewhat surprising considering how many other NIFC halves we find. Perhaps many of them were melted. Either mint is a white whale for me.

I’ve been hunting for about 4 years and have found 8-10 1970’s. Most of them have been found in bags off the coin machine.

I may not be the best comparison because I don't search boxes and I don't have access to coin bags, etc. You have probably searched more halves in the last 14 months than I have in the last 14 years. But in my view, it is all randomness - I have found 2 1976S 40% silvers (not proof) and one 1976S proof 40% silver - and those probably aren't much more common than 1970. Also found the 1968S twice. Heck, I even once got the 1971S 40% Ike (not proof) from a teller.

Even though I caved and bought a 1970S many years ago, I would like to find it as well, and I would consider it a while whale too.
