Had a late start hunting this year, didn't pick any boxes of coins up until this past weekend. I picked up a box of halves, a box of dimes, and a box of nickels.

But I suppose it was worth it to take the first week and some days of January off to recharge, because all the boxes gave up silver.

The box of nickels gave up two war nickels:

1944P
1944D

one.jpg

two.jpg

The box of halves gave up two 90%ers and six 40%ers:

1953D Ben
1964
1965 x 2
1966
1967
1968D
1969D

three.jpg

And, yes, I finally broke a 50+ dime box skunk streak that lasted almost all of 2019 with a box of that gave up three Roosies:

1957
1963D
1965

four.jpg

The lack in quality of the dime picture is because my younger son wanted to snap it from his phone, which was my old piece of crap, that I gave him to play around with. So I obliged him.

Anyway... what a good start to 2020!

Great start to 2020! Happy to hear the dime box streak ended... 50+ boxes is crazy bad luck. Were you on a streak of a lot of new boxes?

Yeah, I saw A LOT of full 2019 boxes and quite a few full 2018 boxes as well. I just kept plugging along going through them though because there was one that had just a few coins that weren't brand new and one of those few coins was silver. I have it listed as one of my "highlights" in my 2019 thread in my year-end wrap up post.

Cool! I used to blow thru boxes of nickels via edge-hunting for the war types, I later ended up dumping my large collection of 1946-60 though.

May your hot streak continue throughout 2020. I have never searched coin rolls but you have made think seriously about starting.

Nice start to 2020 and congrats on breaking that awful dime skunk streak. I have a 17 box dime skunk streak and I told my tellers to just slap me if I ask for another dime box.

Picked up $170 in CWR of halves + $200 in MWR of dimes yesterday, both of which gave up silver.

Halves gave up one lone 40%er: 1968D.

Dimes gave up a single Roosie: 1948S.

Picked up $500 in halves yesterday from one of my pick-up banks.

On the phone, they said they had a box. But when I got there, what they gave me was this:

one.jpg

A mix of customer- and a few different machine-wrapped rolls. Some of the CWR were rewrapped machine rolls.

But, I did spy three enders from the MWR:

two.jpg

All of the CWR were skunks, as well as the MWR from Brinks. But out of the other $180 in MWR, I scored thirteen 40%ers!

1965
1966
1967 x 5
1968D x 3
1969D x 3

three.jpg

Man, I wish I would've gotten a full box of those MWR that gave up the 40%ers! Probably would've been a really good one.

Well, they didn't LIE to you, it was a BOX OF HALVES. Be happy with what you got, just never know what might be in CWR.

Its true that you "just never know what might be in CWR". But sometimes, a chatty teller might give you a hint. At one bank that occasionally orders me boxes, they have CWRs that are dumps from a CRHer. I suspected this before a teller spilled the beans because the CWRs there never had silver and because the bank always seemed to have such an unusually large supply (hundreds of rolls) of CWRs. The teller informed me that they always have lots of rolls because "a customer pulls out the silver from boxes and then returns these rolls..." OK, thanks for telling me - I don't want any more of those!

Picked up a box of halves + $280 in MWR of halves + $30 in CWR of halves yesterday.

Skunked on the box of halves.

The $280 in MWR gave up four 90%ers...

Three Walkers:

1941
1942
1944S

And a Ben: 1954D.

The $30 in CWR of halves gave up six 40%ers: 1967 x 6.
