Was going through a few dime boxes this week, while in box #3 out pops up in a rim search a very bright, strong strike, thick, white reeded edge coin. Thought it was foreign at first, pulled it out, turned out to be a 1997-S Proof SILVER DIME. In all my 9-past years of serious CRH dimes, I believe this was only my THIRD such find of a silver proof dime.
Will try to get a few pics for next time.

Nice find! I had a similar experience last night going through my weekly half box. Opened up a roll and saw a lone white rim, blast white and full and looking uncirculated. I think to myself, Man it’s been a while since I pulled a modern silver proof! Turns out it was just an exceedingly nice 1965, maybe from a SMS set.

Nice find Dozer. Congrats! Pics please.
I've never really searched dimes as my eyes don't do as well as they used to. But, I bought 10 rolls of CWR from a teller that is starting to think of me when he gets CWR in. I should have bought them all but didn't have a bunch of cash with me and am having a difficult time with dumps of halves. We'll see how it goes.

It's not a pure pristine proof like we normally see, but still a surprise unexpected.

Dozer, I have searched almost 2.5M dimes ($250K worth) and still not found a modern silver proof! They seem to be quite rare indeed. Congratulations on the find. :icon_thumleft: Thanks for uploading the pics...
