With the great American coin hunt I have seen hundreds upon hundreds of nearly uncirculated bicentennial quarters in boxes this year.

What part of the country are you searching, if you don’t mind me asking?
They obviously didn’t distribute them very well - cuz I find a lot.
Big cities must be where they are all going.

I am going through a bag off a coin counter, I have never seen so may bicentennial quarters. I would estimate 1 out of every 4 is a bicentennial! I only really notice it because my son wants me to save some for him and usually I find only a few, but today it seems to be about 25%, every handful of say 50 coins has 10-15 bi's

I was talking to a guy (who has a vending machine business) dumping quarters at a coinstar and the machine was rejecting bicentennial quarters. I suggested that it might be related to the high relief of the reverse. So its possible the quarters you find in bags could have been rejected from coinstars - at least those set to reject high relief coins, and then dumped into non-coinstar machines that use bags.

We start off saying we just want to find one W but there are five designs, so after that first one, there are still four more designs to go. So far, I have three of the five designs among my five W quarters.
