Quarter Hunters - San Francisco Business Strikes

There are quite a few of us here looking for the proverbial needle in the haystack searching for the elusive West Point issues. While the mintage is small (2M for each design), they were purposely released into the "haystack". But who has found San Francisco minted business strikes? The occasional proof that we find are neat, but they look like crap in a hurry. No pun intended, but finding impaired proofs kind of loses it's luster. But the San Fran Business strikes look fantastic.

I've found two, but don't really hunt quaters often. I'll dig them up and post a photo. No W's yet

They were not released into circulation like the West Point quarters. They were only sold in bags/rolls direct to collectors. They were the first time that San Fran minted business strike quarters since 1954. Either because their machines don't get the wear/tear as Philly/Denver do or San Fran forgot how to make business strikes since they have moved to proof production, but the strikes have been excellent. A few have been proof-like without the cameo devices as if the mint workers can't help polishing the die out of habit.

I think I've found 3 so far. Was confused at first as they had the S, but not the luster. Starting to get anxious for the bank lobby to re-open...

I have found 2, neither worth grading:
2013-S White Mountain
2015-S Blue Ridge Parkway

I also have 2 others:
2015-S MS66PL - I got the coin for free with a Whitman ATB Folder and had it graded.
2019-S MS66 - I bought the coin raw and had it graded.

Tx - I've been buying the rolls from the Mint and haven't opened any. The series is almost done so when I get my final rolls, I intend to sell complete series P/D. The San Fran rolls were only available in a P/D/S set. From examining the enders of the S Rolls, the coins look fantastic.

I only started the thread as I pulled a Great Dunes San Fran business strike along with a silver '54 and 2019 W WiP. The San Fran quarter made me think that I don't remember too much mention of them on TNet.

Hello Diver,
I like your plan! I would also cherry-pick the best San Fran business strikes and have them graded for posterity. Good luck and let me know when you do this as I would be interested in the S coins. Thanks.

My original plan was to buy an ATB album for P/D/S - but instead make it strictly S Mints. Business strike/Clad Proof/Silver Proof. I think that would make a nice collection while appreciating the designs and maintaining value as you are collecting the smallest of mintages and not the P/D issues. I will drop you a line when I get there. I'm a big fan of the ATB series as I'm a huge supporter of our National Park system. I've also been on subscription for the 5 oz "quarters".

I've found one. It was nothing special, not the greatest condition or anything. I was definitely confused at first, had to check the red book to figure out why the S mint mark but no proof shine.

Speaking of proofs, I found a proof Nevada state quarter that's pretty gorgeous, barely impaired at all.
