Unusual find.

Bought $100 of halves MWRs , no silver but did pull this Gr Britain one cent 1899 Penny out of a roll. Worn down but readable. Strange how to get something like this in a half $ roll.


It may have cost me $.50 cents but I'll keep it. Worth anything?

It's surprising how many coins like that end up in half rolls. I'll bet I have a half dozen different coins/countries that way. I'll take my 1894 Jamaica piece over a clad Kennedy any day!

Just had that happen, some of the very little CRH this year and I open a roll and a big brit penny pops out.

Best one ever was still the 1913, 1917 and 1918 Indian rupee coins in the same 500$ bank bag of halves. Also had a few challenge coins and love tokens over the years.

That is the oldest coin I ever found in a box, though my find was (if I remember correctly) around 1918.

One reason to love pennies, eventually an Indian head pops up and boom, even more in the 1800's club.

My oldest is 1803 British East India trading co British penny in a MWR box of halves. I only opened it because I thought they shorted me a coin it was light when I weighed it.
