I saw on the web news that the mint was thinking of making some .999fine or 90% silver fractional coins to go along with the ASE, but not sold as a set. Anybody else see this article. Discussion?

To be fair, they are two different products. There is a the bullion version and the collector version. The collector version will have the mintmark and burnished finish. Yes, there is still a hefty premium. But take for example the 2012 Hawaii Volcanoes National Park - the bullion version is worth melt vs. the collector version is worth $400.
