Well, been a while since I had a chance to go through some coin. Unfortunately, I was able to do just that recently. A neighbor of mine had passed away in early July, and his family was going through all of his belongings. He used to hit the casino's a lot, and apparently just pretty much stashed away any coins he got, along with pocket change. They knew I was into coin, so asked if I would look through. First few batches (think 4-5 coffee cans each) didn't yield much, a single greek coin and some wheats. They let me keep the greek for my time, which was damned nice of them. The last batch though... Brought over a small tote full of coins, and they pretty much said take anything I wanted, they were just going to dump the rest. Went through and found some older canadian cents (30's and 40's), and a LOT of wheats. Entire large cottage cheese container of wheats. I sorted them out, and then went through and kept anything '39 and older, gave them 2 cents each for the ones I kept cause I just didn't feel right keeping the coins. They also had the presidential gold coins in there, I kept a few for my collection (have the first 21 now). Lastly, he had probably 65 steel wheats mixed in with all those coins. Paid them 5 cents each per. I also threw in a $25 gift card for their fav breakfast spot to even out the gold coins and a few of the random foreigns I pulled as well. They said theres still more to come...
