Hoard of quarters

Went to bank in my town today to swap coins (they all know me there and that I collect, and I am able to dump coins and swap them for new ones - I find that this makes it a lot easier, even more so when the coin shortage signs are posted).

Turns out the tellers saved these quarters for me as someone must have turned them in over the course of the week. $8.00 of silver Washingtons pre-1960. It was clearly someone's collection at some point because there are no duplicate dates. I even said to the teller are you sure you dont want them and she said no - they dont care.

If coin collecting is not your thing, then there it is - I would probably feel the same about some other hobby that I am not interested in, even if I had come across something that was of some value.

This ended the skunk streak that I have been on around here as the last 2 months or so have been pretty dry.

yes, older whitman quarter folder 'book two' was 1946-1959

Update:

I went back to the bank today and exchanged some coins and gave the 2 tellers who had saved the quarters for me $40 in gift cards. They gave me this roll of halves that someone had turned in over the past week and inside was some silver.

When I was looking for silver coins, about once a month I gave the tellers a big box of assorted chocolates. You will not believe how that paid off in silver and star notes. Just try it after you have been working with them for a few weeks.
