I have a sister who lives in Eastern TN so I asked her to call her bank and pick up a couple of boxes of half dollars for me when she comes home for the holidays. Her "know it all boyfriend" DR. who collects coins told me that banks won't order boxes of coins for you. LOL
He said, " You can only do that if you know somebody really well and they are willing to take the risk for you." " And you will never get a bank to take them back." " Why do it anyway you won't find any silver at all." " You have to buy silver coins from a dealer." "In 1963 Congress mandated that all banks have to turn all silver coins into the reserve and they are not allowed to give them to their customers." " No silver coins were made after 1963."
