Great idea Cerulean! The earliest I've ever found a new coin was in 1980 when I found my first penny on Jan. 20th. Who will be first this year?? Plus with the quarters, Presidential dollars, Canadian & foreign the contest can last all year.

Found my first 2008-D nickel of the year today at the casino in record time! My previous earliest nickel was on Feb. 22nd, done twice in 1999 & 2006. Feb. 12th is now the new benchmark!

Back on February 3rd, I made a post for my finds from 2 boxes of pennies. I found 3 shiny new 2008D's mixed in with the newer and not so new ones, there where some wheaties in there as well. Got them from a bank in Boulder City, NV or one in Henderson (Las Vegas), NV. Just never got around to posting it in this thread

I found 5 2008 half dollars (I think 3 P & 2 D) while checking yesterdays boxes. I only kept 2 as the others were already nicked up.

Cat J, your claim of Monroe dollars on January 15th is improbable as those coins weren't released by the Mint until February 15th.
