The FINAL collective total tally is in for 2008. WOW!!!!! Almost unbelievable.

First of all, I would like to thank all of you for your participation.....JOB WELL DONE!!!!!! Hats off to each and every one of you..... :thumbsup:.... :wav: You guys did an outstanding job plus we had a little fun in the process.

Now to the numbers........In 2007 we collectively pulled a total of 683.55 pounds of silver from CRH'ing which averaged out to 56.96 pounds per month. I honestly thought this number was going to be very tough to attain in 2008....but in 2008 we totaled 815.564 pounds of silver.....yes, 815.564 POUNDS!!! This averages out to 67.96 pounds per month. Mind boggling......

We had some sleepers out there that never posted through out the year that sent in their 2008 totals which really boosted the totals bigtime....I wasn't expecting this.

This total was accomplished with participation, persistence, motivation, determination and persevering. All of this comes easy when your doing something that you enjoy and having fun while your doing it. This is a great hobby!!!!

I will start a new thread for 2009. Like in the past, only totals in that thread will be counted towards the 2009 collective total. These totals can be reported in PM's to me as well if you do not want to post your totals in the open forum and as always will be kept confidential. If foreign silver is reported, please list the silver content of these...I would greatly appreciate that.

As previously mentioned, I would like to encourage everyone to participate.....it's just for fun.

As always.....good luck to all and congrats on a JOB WELL DONE!!!! Once again, hats off to all of you.

Now, I have a question for all of you and would like to hear your opinion........Do you think the 2008 total can be matched in 2009? Hmmmmm.......?

SPECIAL NOTES:
In memory of Steve...aka Silver_Fox.....gone but not forgotten.... :'( :'(....RIP..........

Special thanks again to Bob for getting this collective total thread started and maintaining it for as long as he did.....well done Bob!! :thumbsup:

90%'Er's found = 10822 (3914.20918 ounces of silver, 39.99% of total);
40%'Er's found = 36628 (5417.2812 ounces of silver, 55.35% of total);
Quarters found = 187 (34.00408 ounces of silver, 0.35% of total);
Dimes found = 2759 (199.5861 ounces of silver, 2.04% of total);
War nickels = 395 (24.38288 ounces of silver, 0.25% of total);
Dollars (90%) = 33 (25.52352 ounces of silver, 0.26% of total);
Dollars (40%) = 19 (6.0059 ounces of silver, 0.06% of total);
Silver Eagles / other US coins = 162.97338 ounces of silver, 1.67% of total;
Nominated States coins:
Totals foreign coins: 3.882 ounces of silver, or 0.04 % of total.

2008 Total: 9787.84820 troy ounces, or 815.564 troy pounds recovered. At the 1/18/09 10:05am EST silver value of $11.26 per ounce, this works out to a total value of $110,211.17 for silver recovered from coin rolls and pocket change.

The total weight of silver recovered (as reported on that thread only) for 2007 was 683.55 troy pounds; the total weight of silver recovered (as reported on that thread only) for 2006 was 243.61 troy pounds.

To prevent confusion with troy pounds vs. avoirdupois pounds (our normal everyday weight system in the US):
1 troy pound = 12 troy ounces; 1 troy ounce = 480 grains, for a total of 5760 grains per troy pound;
1 avoirdupois pound = 16 avdp. ounces; 1 avdp. ounce = 437.5 grains for a total of 7000 grains per avoirdupois pound.
(1 grain = 0.0648 grams)

Alright my dear... I'll bite.

I can't boost those half dollar totals much, but I can help out the other coins a bit.

Haven't posted in this thread yet, so here are my summer or YTD totals (the same thing since I only CRH during the summer):

Halves:
90% = 54 TOTAL
43 Kens, 8 Bens, 3 Walks
40% = 125 TOTAL

Quarters: 5 (all washington)

Dimes: 964 (all roosevelts)

War Nickels: 107

NON-US:
2 - 80% Canadian quarters
1 - 80% Canadian dime
1 - 50% South African 1s

Hope that helps!

Thanks alot Dave. Yes, this does help indeed!!

Can you send me your YTD totals at the end of August and then start providing your monthly totals at the end of each month? It is just less confusing like that. I just don't want to double up on any of your numbers.

Re: Silver Totals For 2008......Updated 8/17/08

The numbers should remain the same by the end of this month, and shouldn't change in the coming months at all either, so that should end the confusion with doubling up my numbers. I'm done with CRH, at least for the rest of the year, so unless I find some hand rolls of halves, which is the only thing I will even consider buying, then I won't be nabbing more silver except in bullion.

I've been at it for almost three months now. I don't have it broken down by month but I did a total for the ~3 months I've been at it.

27 - 1964 Kennedys
233 - 40% Kennedys
3 Bens
3 Walkers
5 Washington quarters
5 Roosevelt dimes
1 Mercury dime
1 Canadian dime
1 Netherlands 25 cent
1 Netherlands 10 cent

4 proof Kennedys 1976, 1981, 1982, 2005

I'm also a newbie - been going at it for about a month.

2 90% Kennedys
32 40%
1 Rooselvelt Dime (found on the floor of my car?)

Most have come from customer rolls and tellers tills - I've been skunked on 8 straight boxes of halves. I did get a solid roll of 40% 1968-d's which was nice! They were even marked 1968 on the side. I bought all they had but that was the only one with silver in it.
